Aluminum I Beam
Quality aluminum I-beams, also referred to as structural aluminum beams, are an extruded aluminum product that often utilizes 6061 aluminum alloy due to the fact that it is strong, light weight, heat-treatable, and is easy to weld, cut, form and machine. I-beams are the standard shape for aluminum beams used in floor and ceiling joists to ensure that a structure will be physically sound. 6061 aluminum I-beams also lend themselves well to being anodized -- an important consideration when they are used in the construction of structures which will be exposed to weather extremes or other corrosive elements.
Available in a wide variety of sizes and configurations, aluminum I-beam can be found in the traditional I-beam shape or in multiple tapered and uneven variations. It provides an excellent structural base for frame work, overhead and other supports, trailers, truck beds and railings, to name only a few applications. With all these positive qualities and an overall cost that's generally lower than other available materials, it's easy to understand why aluminum I-beams play a major role in so many different types of construction projects.
