Meet Miriam

Miriam Uria likes running, which is good, because her work as supply chain director takes her to three different Hydro locations in Spain and Portugal.

How does the job suit your skills?
I guess you might say I’m a people person, so management was the best fit for me, although having an engineering background certainly helps in my job. I studied engineering at university and did my postgraduate training in management.

How has your work changed over the years?
The last few years have been extremely tough in Spain and Portugal. Since the financial crash of 2008 we have had to restructure the company year after year to remain competitive, and that’s never a fun job to do. You have to keep motivated and focused on the future.

How does Hydro work with its employees during difficult times?
We treat everyone with respect. It is critical for me to be kind and to give people the time they need to take in the situation.
